NBC News appoints Namako senior exec editor

Tom Namako

NBC News has promoted Tom Namako to senior executive editor from his current post of executive editor.

Previously Namako was at BuzzFeed News, where he worked for more than seven years, holding the posts of news assignment editor, deputy news director, head of breaking news, news director and deputy editor-in-chief.

He was a news editor at The Wall Street Journal, where he edited breaking news in New York City and oversaw coverage of the New York police department and the federal and state court systems.

He also worked as a transit reporter and associate metro reporter at the New York Post, and was a staff writer at the Philadelphia City Paper.

Namako has a B.A. in communication and English from La Salle University in Pennsylvania and a M.S. in journalism from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
