Divya Murthy, a graduate student at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, has joined The City, an independent, nonprofit newsroom in New York, to cover service and explanatory news.
Previously, Murthy was a copywriter at software development company Freshworks. She worked in research and editorial at School Ki Ghanti, a nonprofit that aims to reach elementary-school learners whose education was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
She was managing editor of Globalists, a contributor-based print and online publication at Syracuse University, which allows students to start conversations around global issues.
She also wrote for The Daily Orange, Syracuse University’s student paper.
Murthy has a B.A. from Syracuse University.
