Munson appointed BBC Daytime and Early Peak’s commissioning editor

Helen Munson

Helen Munson has been named BBC Daytime and Early Peak’s first commissioning editor based in North East England, reporting to Carla-Maria Lawson, head of BBC Daytime and Early-Peak.

In her new role, Munson will support suppliers in the North of England, focusing on building the supply base in the North East.

She will also work alongside colleagues in Scotland, and will commission content for BBC One, BBC Two and BBC iPlayer, covering live, formatted factual, factual-entertainment, scripted, entertainment and documentary series.

Maria Lawson says:

“We are committed to reflecting the lives of our viewers across the UK on BBC Daytime and Early Peak, and Helen is a passionate advocate for content that does just that. By returning to her roots in the North East we are sure she will be a huge asset in enhancing our representation in the region as well as helping to build our community of suppliers.”

Currently, Munson is the head of planning and scheduling for Daytime and Early Peak working across BBC One and Two. Prior to that, she was a scheduler on the BBC One and Two channel teams. She has also been the commissioning editor on a number of BBC Daytime factual titles.

Munson adds:

“This is a really exciting opportunity to build on and develop relationships with suppliers in the north. I am from the North East, and I know that there is such a wealth of talent out there who I’m really looking forward to working with. Being based there puts me in the perfect place to develop ideas with companies which showcase the amazing creative diversity the Northern regions have to offer.”
