Barash Media, the parent company of The Centre County Gazette and Town&Gown magazine, is pleased to announce that Chris Morelli has been promoted to the position of managing editor of The Centre County Gazette.
Morelli was previously the managing editor of The Centre County Gazette from 2012 to 2016. Morelli returned to The Centre County Gazette in November 2022 as assistant editor. Prior to returning to The Centre County Gazette, he was the news editor of The Express in Lock Haven. He has more than 30 years of experience in journalism and has worked for both large and small publications.
He began his career as a sports reporter. Throughout his career, he has worked for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Butler Eagle, Centre Daily Times, Clearfield Progress, Johnstown Tribune-Democrat and Blue White Illustrated. He has worked as a news reporter, sports reporter, copy editor, news editor and managing editor.
He has covered high school sports, Penn State football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball. He was also a beat writer for the Pittsburgh Steelers. As a sports writer, he won a pair of writing awards.
On the news side, Morelli has covered Centre County government, numerous school boards and borough and city councils. He also writes for Town&Gown magazine. Morelli is a graduate of Penn State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
