Meredith Corp. appoints Margaret editor-in-chief of Entertainment Weekly

Meredith Corporation has tapped Mary Margaret as editor-in-chief of Entertainment Weekly, one of America’s leading consumer publications in the entertainment category, reaching an audience of more than 29 million consumers across all platforms.

Margaret begins on Apr. 12 and will report to Dan Wakeford, editor-in-chief, PEOPLE and editorial director, entertainment.

“Mary has an impeccable track record for shaping the editorial direction and content strategy for some great brands, and that makes her the ideal choice to lead one of Meredith’s most high-profile magazines and help consumers distinguish what is worth their time in the entertainment world.”

Margaret will be joining from HubSpot where she is a senior director of product marketing. She is also a Dublin ambassador at Product Marketing Alliance, a collective of passionate product marketing professionals committed to driving demand, adoption and the overall success of their products.

Margaret comments:

“As the brand’s first female EIC, as an Asian woman, and as someone who has enjoyed a career in both media and tech, it’s important to me that we represent the richness and variety of storytelling, from the storytellers and the stories to the different mediums we experience those stories through.

Previously, Margaret was head of product content strategy for video and gaming at Facebook and has served as an editorial director at Roku Inc. She has also worked as a senior editor, music and scoop at PEOPLE magazine and then as a director, content strategy at PEOPLE magazine and Entertainment Weekly at Time Inc.

She has also served as an editor at AMG/PARADE and as an executive editor at Margaret was also an assignment editor, writer, and reporter for PEOPLE magazine at Time Inc. She has also worked as a reporter/intern at Newsweek.

Margaret is a graduate of Colgate University.
