Mercury News has hired Jason Mastrodonato as an enterprise/general assignment reporter to cover the Bay Area teams.
Previously, Mastrodonato was a sports columnist at the Boston Herald, where he joined in 2015 as a Red Sox beat reporter, a post he also held at MassLive.com.
He was a sports columnist at the Boston Globe.
Mastrodonato graduated from Northeastern University.
