The Washington Post has appointed Tara McCarty visual enterprise editor on Metro. She begins Aug. 28.
McCarty joined the Post’s design team in May 2020 as a freelancer, going full-time six months later. She most recently played a key role in the digital and print design of the Post’s Smithsonian “racial brain” project.
Previously, she worked at The Tampa Bay Times for eight years as a design intern, designer, news design director and director of print design.
She also worked at the St. Petersburg Times.
McCarty has a B.A. in mass communication from the University of South Florida.
