Shelby Coates, evening anchor and executive producer at NBC station WMGT-TV Ch. 41 in Macon, Ga., is set to depart. She wrote on X/Twitter:
“I love Middle Georgia! And these past five years have been so rewarding, memorable and simply fun. I’ve made some amazing life-long friends, traveled the highways across Georgia and really grew my passion for journalism and storytelling.”
Coates joined the station in July 2018 as an evening anchor and 5 p.m. producer.
Previously, she worked as a morning show anchor and executive producer at WEVV-TV Ch. 44, a CBS, Fox and MyNetworkTV affiliate in Indiana, and as a weekend morning anchor and reporter at CBS station WSPA-TV Ch. 7 in Spartanburg, S.C.
She held the posts of weekend anchor and reporter at Chattanooga, Tenn. CBS station WDEF-TV Ch. 12. She has also worked at TV stations in Georgia and Texas.
Coates graduated from Abilene Christian University in Texas.
