Le to join the Washington Post as video reporter for visual forensics

Stefanie Le

The following excerpt was sent out from The Washington Post’s director of video Micah Gelman and visual forensics executive producer Nadine Ajaka:

We are delighted to announce that Stefanie Le is joining The Washington Post as a video reporter for Visual Forensics, bringing to the team her skills at the center of open-source intelligence investigations, misinformation and human rights.

Stefanie comes to The Post after several years of working at organizations that address political misinformation. Most recently, at Media Matters for America, she served as the deputy research director and led a team of open-source researchers who monitored fringe online platforms to analyze extremism and political misinformation during the 2020 presidential election.

As a researcher at the Information Disorder Lab at Harvard Kennedy School’s Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics, and Public Policy, her open-source intelligence work involved tracking and analyzing political misinformation before the 2018 midterm elections. She also developed open-source strategies for newsrooms and assisted newsroom partners with their election reporting on misinformation.

She has also worked at the Boston Globe and the Human Rights Center at the University of California at Berkeley’s School of Law.

Stefanie holds master’s degrees from Harvard University in international relations and the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, and bachelor’s degrees in journalism and English literature from Emerson College.

Please join us in welcoming Stefanie to The Post. She starts Aug. 8.
