LA Times taps Salido to serve as assistant ME

The Los Angeles Times has promoted Ruthanne Salido to assistant managing editor. The Times reports:

“Her elevation to assistant managing editor reflects her wide responsibilities and the important role she plays across the newsroom overseeing the copy editing process as well as helping run major projects and initiatives.”

Recently, Salido served as director of the multiplatform desk and held the post of digital morning copy desk manager.

She has been with the Times for more than 34 years, working on the Orange County copy desk, editing on the business and national desks, and serving as Daily Calendar copy chief.

She has also worked as a copy editor at The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Orange County Register, the Washington Post, Stars and Stripes, and Pasadena Star-News, a local newspaper in California.

Salido belongs to the California Chicano News Media Association and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

Salido has a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Los Angeles and a master’s degree in communications from California State University, Fullerton.
