Kentucky TV station appoints Smith news director

Jennifer Smith

WLEX-TV Ch. 18, an NBC affiliate in Lexington, Ky. has promoted Jennifer Smith to news director from the post of assistant news director.

Smith joined the TV station in October 1999 as a producer and has also held the post of executive producer. From February 2022 to May 2022, she served as interim news director at KXXV-TV Ch. 25, an ABC affiliate in Waco, Texas.

Previously, she worked as a news producer at both WKYT-TV Ch. 27, a CBS and CW affiliate in Lexington, Ky., and KOMU-TV Ch. 8, an NBC- and CW Plus affiliate in Columbia, Mo.

She is also a Murrow and Emmy award-winning journalist.

Smith graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
