Keh moves to NY Times metro desk

The following excerpt was sent out from The New York Times’ Nestor Ramos:

Andrew Keh

I am thrilled to announce that Andrew Keh is joining Metro, bringing his eye for irresistible and unexpected stories and his deft writing touch to New York City and beyond.

Over the course of a dozen years as a reporter for Sports, Andrew has written one memorable story after another: the ridiculously deadly motorcycle race on the Isle of Man; the mysterious vanishing act of a once-famous pro golfer; and the guy who taxidermies all the animals after a bull run.

“Andrew writes about a lot of seemingly disparate subjects — trophy celebrations, calamari, recluse golfers and even Wordle since January,” said Oskar Garcia, his editor on Sports. “But so much of what he dives into is rooted in his intellectual curiosity and in connecting the unusual or what we see every day with relatable themes.”

On Metro, Andrew will pursue the same goal, introducing readers to fascinating people, places and ideas across Metro’s turf.

Andrew began his career at The Times as a part-time clerk in 2008 and then joined Sports in 2011, covering the Mets, and then the N.B.A. before becoming the desk’s correspondent in Europe. He covered five World Cups and four Olympics, and one dispatch from Tokyo — about the restorative power of a convenience store meal in a city largely shut down by the pandemic — was selected for the Best American Food Writing anthology.

Andrew will join Metro later in the year.
