Johnson swaps Columbus Dispatch for WaPo

The following excerpt was sent out from The Washington Post’s sports editor Matt Vita, sports deputy editor Matt Rennie and sports assignment editor Sarah Larimer:

Bailey Johnson

We are happy to welcome Bailey Johnson as our new Washington Capitals beat writer.

Bailey comes to The Post from the Columbus Dispatch, where she covered Major League Soccer’s Crew and the NHL’s Blue Jackets after starting as a high school sports reporter. Before her time at the Dispatch, she interned at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in the fall of 2020, reporting primarily on Georgia and Georgia Tech football and assisting with NFL, NBA and WNBA coverage, as well as early presidential election voting in the state.

She is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where her drive to be a hockey beat writer began.

Bailey starts June 12. Please join us in welcoming her to The Post.
