Jesse to depart the Detroit Free Press after 12 years

David Jesse

David Jesse, a higher education reporter at the Detroit Free Press, will leave after 12 years at the end of the month to join the Chronicle of Higher Education, where he will cover college leadership.

Jesse was a 2020-21 Spencer fellow in education reporting at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He was also a 2019 Education Writers Association Reporting Fellow.

He was a digital journalist covering K-12 education at AnnArbor.com and an education reporter at The Ann Arbor News.

He was a county government and political reporter at The Times Herald and a city hall reporter at The Holland Sentinel.

Jesse graduated from Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids.
