Deborah Turness has been named the new chief executive officer at ITN, the UK news producer which is best known for producing ITV, Channel 4, and Channel 5’s news bulletins.

In her new role, Turness will succeed Anna Mallett, who was named VP of physical production at Netflix last November. Mallett steps down on Apr. 26.

Turness is currently president of NBC News International after the company took a stake in Euronews – a post she will be leaving to join ITN on Apr. 19. Turness first joined NBC News in 2013, becoming the first woman in U.S. history to be president of a network news division.

In this role, she led a team of over 3000 journalists and technicians responsible for all editorial content and commercial revenues, devised the strategy to restore all four NBC news brands (Today, NBC Nightly News, Dateline and Meet the Press) to #1 slot in 2016, and launched the first NBC News strategic content division to diversify revenues.

Turness has previously worked at ITN as she was the editor of ITN-produced ITV News before joining NBC News.

Turness is a graduate of the University of Surrey.
