After eight years as president and publisher of the Quad-City Times, Debbie Anselm is moving on.
Anselm announced Tuesday she accepted the position of executive director of the Iowa Newspaper Association. Anselm, who has been with The Times since 2015, will begin her new role Oct. 24. Her last day leading the Quad-Cities operation will be Oct. 20.
Before being named publisher, Anselm worked in a variety of media capacities, most recently as general manager of Times Media Co. in Munster, Indiana, a Lee Enterprises company.
In 2017, Anselm played a pivotal role in the acquisition of the Dispatch/Argus.
In 2021, she was promoted to group president of Lee’s Iowa business unit, which along with the Quad City Times includes Sioux City, Mason City and Waterloo.
“As I’ve been reflecting on the past two decades, what I’m most grateful for are the people I’ve had the opportunity to work with. I’ve been fortunate to be mentored by exceptional leaders, inspired by friendships forged with colleagues and supported by extraordinary people in our community.”
In the Quad-Cities, Anselm has lent her leadership and guidance to a variety of boards including the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce, Quad City Community Foundation, YMCA of the Mississippi Valley, Junior Achievement of the Heartland, United Way of the Quad Cities and the Iowa Newspaper Association.
This past year, she served as president of the INA.
