CNN has hired Christal Hayes as a breaking news editor. She joined from USA Today, where she worked for five years and held the same post.
Hayes covered politics and breaking news for USA Today, she then served as a congressional reporter and then as a national correspondent. She reported for Newsweek and the Orlando Sentinel, where she also interned.
She also interned at Hearst.
Hayes graduated from the University of Central Florida.
