Grovum becomes deputy off-platform editor at NY Times

The New York Times has made changes to its social team and named Jake Grovum as the new deputy off-platform editor, overseeing social editors in New York and across the globe as the U.S. election season draws nearer.

He has been at the Times for the past year. Previously, Grovum was with the Financial Times for more than 3 years joining as a social media journalist. He then became FT’s U.S. social media editor and was then promoted to the post of acting head of social media. Most recently, he held the post of U.S. head of audience engagement at the FT.

Grovum has also served as staff writer/social media editor at Stateline and was a staff writer at Politics in Minnesota. He also held the post of Washington, D.C. based freelancer/correspondent at UWIRE and served as a Pulliam fellow at The Indianapolis Star.

Additionally, he also served first as a staff reporter/senior staff reporter and then as projects editor at The Minnesota Daily.

Grovum is a graduate of the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.
