Abby Goodnough will join The New York Times National desk to oversee regional coverage in the South, Florida, the Mid-Atlantic and New England. She starts Sept. 13.
Last spring, Goodnough was named domestic policy editor to drive coverage of the pandemic response, homeland security and education. Previously, she worked on the National desk as Miami bureau chief.
Goodnough joined the Times in the mid-1990s, when she replaced Cliff Levy (now deputy managing editor) on the International desk.
Goodnough has a B.A. from Cornell University.
