Emily Giambalvo, a staff writer at The Washington Post, will take on a new role on the Sports desk, where she will work on data-driven projects as part of the Post’s investigations and enterprise team.
Giambalvo will “apply her reporting and data management skills to bring a new dimension to the Sports department’s investigations and accountability journalism,” writes the Post.
Previously, she covered the University of Maryland football and men’s basketball, the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo and Winter Games in Beijing. Her reporting focused on gymnastics and figure skating.
She also reported on the NFL’s failure to provide sufficient head coaching opportunities to Blacks.
She joined the Post in 2018 as an intern and has also interned at The Seattle Times.
Giambalvo graduated from the University of Georgia, where she worked at the student newspaper, The Red & Black.
