GateHouse Media may buy Gannett

Gatehouse Media

GateHouse Media and New Media Investment Group (its parent company) are currently discussing a merger with Gannett. Gannett is the owner of USA Today.

Gatehouse Media is home to hundreds of newspapers, publications, and local-market websites. The merger would join the two largest newspaper chains in the United States.

The companies are discussing a cash-and-stock deal. A deal may be announced in the next several weeks, but there is no word about a price estimate for the merger.
