“Some personal news: This is my last week as editor for The Gainesville Sun. I’ve cherished this role greatly and all those I’ve worked with along my 10-yr career but was given an opportunity too good to pass up that will allow me to better provide for my kids.”
Previously, Caplan was a projects reporter at The State Newspaper and a staff writer for The Tampa Tribune, where he covered government, education, features and sports.
He also reported on sports, education, government and breaking news for the Citrus County Chronicle in Florida. He was also a sports correspondent at The Tampa Bay Times.
Caplan has a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida and a master’s degree from the University of South Florida St. Petersburg.
