Justin Fitzgerald, a sports reporter at the Cherokee Scout, a weekly newspaper in Murphy, N.C., is set to depart. He wrote on X/Twitter:
“I’ve enjoyed my time in the Blue Ridge Mountains, but am ready for what’s next. Thank you to everyone for following along over the past 2.5 years, as well as those I met who made this such a great experience.”
Previously, Fitzgerald was a college sports reporter at PressBox Media, a multiplatform sports media company in Baltimore. He freelanced for the Carroll County Times, part of the Baltimore Sun Media Group, and was a minor leagues reporter at BaltimoreBaseball.com.
He also worked as an editor for SB Nation’s site for Maryland sports Testudo Times.
Fitzgerald has a B.A. in multiplatform journalism and economics from the University of Maryland College Park.
