Evan Easterling will move to The New York Times Flex desk later this month.
Easterling joins from the Sports desk, where he covered the pandemic and politics briefings in 2020. He also edited sports articles as well as coverage of various events, including the Super Bowl and N.B.A. finals, and helmed the paper’s night report.
He joined the Times in 2019 as a Dow Jones News Fund intern on the News Print Hub.
Mike Wilson, acting sports editor said:
“We came to depend on Evan’s excellent news judgment and his willingness to write a story himself when it was late at night or reporters were busy. He made all of us better.”
He has also worked at The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Easterling has a B.A. in journalism from Temple University.
