Des Moines NBC journalist/anchor Simmons set to depart

Taj Simmons

Taj Simmons, a weekend anchor and multimedia journalist at Des Moines NBC station WHO-TV Ch. 13, wrote on Twitter:

“I’m signing off from WHO 13 at the end of the month. It’s a hard decision to leave the familiar for a new chance in a new state, believe me. This city, state, and station have made me a better person…I’m grateful for it all.”

Simmons joined WHO in April 2021 as a multimedia journalist, a post he previously held at WSLS-TV Ch. 10, an NBC affiliate in Roanoke, Va., Spectrum News and KTTC-TV Ch. 10, an NBC and CW Plus station in Rochester, Minn.

He interned at Chicago-based independent TV station WGN-TV Ch. 9 and the Chicago Sun-Times.

Simmons has a B.A. in journalism from DePaul University.
