Daily Herald appoints Miner, Slusher to managing editor roles

The Daily Herald covering Chicago suburbs has promoted Lisa Miner to managing editor and Jim Slusher to managing editor for administration and opinion.

Miner recently served as deputy managing editor, news. She joined the Herald in 1984 as a city staff reporter. Since then, she has held various roles, including feature writer, home and garden editor, assistant features editor, and entertainment/regional editor. She has also interned at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Arizona Daily Herald.

Miner has a B.S. in journalism from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Slusher joined the Herald in 1989 after working for a radio station in Iowa and newspapers in Michigan and California. He has also served as deputy managing editor, overseeing development of the newspaper’s institutional voice at the Herald.

He is also an author and his first novel, Leviathan’s Scales, was published as an ebook in August 2013 and is available on Amazon.com, Smashbooks.com and other major online book retailers. Slusher graduated from Western Illinois University.
