The Daily Beast has promoted Mandy Velez to the post of managing editor focusing on audience development and overseeing off-platform products, including podcasts and newsletters.
Previously, she served as an assistant managing editor and before that, as senior social media editor. Velez was also social and email editor at Google, and a writer/researcher at Conde Nast. She was also a senior editor at A Plus in New York and has also worked at The Huffington Post.
She has also reported for The Pitt News in the Greater Pittsburgh Area.
Velez graduated from the University of Pittsburgh.
