Ryan Reynolds has been named executive editor of the Courier & Press.
Reynolds’ commitment to the Evansville community is apparent in the journalism that he has led during his more than two decades working in the newsroom in both sports and news, said Mary Irby-Jones, the USA Today Midwest Regional Editor.
The 45-year-old Boonville, Indiana, native has been a managing editor, features editor, sports editor and reporter during his 24 years at the Courier & Press.
Most recently as news director, he oversaw day-to-day operation of the newsroom. Reynolds has been interim editor since June, when former executive editor Cindi Andrews became senior news director at the Indianapolis Star.
As sports editor, from 2017 to 2021, Reynolds led the C&P sports department through an evolution into a team focused on providing the community with enterprising explanatory and investigative coverage of local sports.
A graduate of the University of Southern Indiana, Reynolds began his journalism career in spring 1998 as an intern at the Evansville Press. He moved to the Courier & Press later that year as a police reporter when the afternoon newspaper folded.
