CNN has tapped Nima Elbagir as chief international investigative correspondent. Elbagir joined CNN in 2011 as a Johannesburg-based correspondent.
She then moved to the Nairobi bureau and later London, where she is currently based. Prior to joining CNN, she worked in various roles for UK’s Channel 4. Elbagir began her career as a stringer with Reuters in 2002.
She has also filed material for the Economist, the Financial Times and Radio France International.
Elbagir has received various awards, including being named the 2020 Royal Television Society ‘Television Journalist of the Year. She also received the 2019 Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award in the Investigative category.
