Cho joins NY Times Seoul newsroom

Kelly Kasulis Cho

Kelly Kasulis Cho will be joining The New York Times Seoul newsroom to work on the home page and push alerts.

Cho moved to South Korea to become a foreign correspondent in 2017 and has covered global politics, science, tech, human rights and social issues. During her time in South Korea, she has also worked for the BBC, Quartz, Al Jazeera, TIME and others.

Before joining The Times, Cho was a managing editor at NK News. Before that, she was a reporter/social media manager at the company. She has also worked as a Korea correspondent at Bloomberg BNA and was a correspondent at The Boston Globe.

During her time at the Globe, she also contributed to a weekly science column called “Brainiac.”

She was a journalist – The Koreas, science and tech at Mic, and was a digital editor at The GroundTruth Project. She is also a former four-year fellow of the Emma L. Bowen Foundation for Minority Interests in Media which put her to work at NBC Connecticut.

She was also a graphic design intern at WHDH-TV.

Cho holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northeastern University.
