Tom Chivers has joined The i Paper as a science writer. He was previously a science editor at UnHerd.com, an online magazine.
Chivers also works freelance. Previously, he has served as a science writer at BuzzFeed UK. Before that, he was a comment and features writer at The Telegraph, having joined in 2007.
He has also written for The Times, the i Paper, the Telegraph, the Guardian, politics.co.uk, New Scientist, CNN, and Wired, among others.
He has won numerous awards, including the Royal Statistical Society’s award for statistical excellence in journalism (twice, in 2018 and 2020) and the Association of British Science Writers’ science journalist of the year (in 2021).
He has also written two books, most recently How to Read Numbers: A Guide to Statistics in the News (and Knowing When to Trust Them).
