Previously, Peña was a news reporter at Block Club Chicago NFP. He served as a digital editor at Chicago Magazine and as an immigration and equality reporter at the Desert Sun Media Group.
He was also a general assignment reporter at DNAinfo.
Peña has a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and a master’s degree from Northwestern University, where he wrote for Medill News Service.
