Chalkbeat has tapped Matt Barnum to serve as interim national editor. He joined in May 2017 as a national reporter covering education policy and research.

Barnum wrote on Twitter:

“Excited to play more of a role overseeing our coverage and continuing to work with @kalynbelsha! Don’t worry — I’ll still be writing and reporting regularly.”

He was a Spencer fellow in education journalism at Columbia University and was a staff writer at The 74 Media, a non-partisan news service covering K-12 education across the United States.

You can congratulate Barnum on Twitter.
