Frank Taylor

Frank Taylor has been appointed editor-in-chief of Carolina Public Press.

This is a homecoming for Taylor as he previously worked there from October 2015 to July 2022 as managing editor. Under his leadership, the newsroom was honored with more than 50 awards from the North Carolina Press Association.

Recently, he held the post of Columbia editor at The Post and Courier in Columbia, S.C.

Taylor said:

“While I’m grateful for the opportunity I had to lead a sharp reporting team at an excellent newspaper in recent months, I’ve greatly missed North Carolina and the nonprofit investigative and in-depth mission of Carolina Public Press.

“I’m excited to be returning to North Carolina. I want CPP to continue its outstanding efforts on behalf of people across this state that I know and love so much.”

Previously, he worked at The Fayetteville Observer in North Carolina, Florida Today, The Lincoln Times-News and The Mecklenburg Times in Charlotte.

Taylor has a B.A. from Wheaton College in Illinois and a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
