Manuel Aguilera has joined Canela Media as VP of news.
He’ll continue to be based in Miami.
In his new role, he oversees a team of U.S.-based journalists and daily coverage for daily newscast Canela News, launched in 2021. He’s also charged with leading the development of new programs for Canela Media’s news streaming channel.
Aguilera was most recently managing editor at Americano Media. He left the conservative media outlet in August, amid the company’s financial turmoil, reported by The Miami Herald.
Aguilera, who previously produced documentaries for Guatemala’s online publication República, has also held editorial management positions at Diario las Américas and Univision Interactive Media.
