Canadian Press names Smith Ottawa bureau chief

Joanna Smith

Joanna Smith is now Ottawa bureau chief at The Canadian Press.

Smith has been with The Canadian Press since 2016, joining as a reporter-editor in the Ottawa bureau. She then served as news editor for the Ottawa bureau.

Smith has also worked as a staff reporter intern and then as a reporter in the Ottawa bureau at the Toronto Star. She has also interned at The Globe and Mail.

Smith has had her work featured in Medium, CTV News, Tampa Bay Times, Ottawa Citizen, National Post, Global News, National Observer, Financial Post and more.

Smith is a B.A. in journalism, Western society and culture from Concordia University.
