Former Chronicle-Telegram employee Bob Jacob was inducted into the Press Club of Cleveland’s Journalism Hall of Fame at a luncheon Nov. 28 at Cibreo Privato in downtown Cleveland.
Jacob has been a journalist for more than 45 years. He spent 19½ years at the Chronicle-Telegram in Elyria from 1981 to 2000, starting as a sportswriter, then a sports copy editor before becoming executive sports editor. He then joined the news side, where he was a copy editor and interim news editor. He also helped launch the Chronicle’s morning edition.
He was news editor of the Chagrin Valley Times from 2000 to 2011, when it was named best weekly paper in Ohio nine times by the Ohio Newspaper Association.
Jacob began leading the Cleveland Jewish News editorial department as managing editor in February 2011 and was promoted to editor in January 2023. He is also editor of the Columbus Jewish News and the Akron Jewish News.
Jacob also has won numerous individual awards for design, news writing, feature writing, obituary writing, travel writing, breaking news writing, photography, column writing and headline writing.
