Timothy Bella is joining the general assignment news desk at The Washington Post where he will cover breaking news, write features and edit stories.
His new role begins on Mar. 9.
Bella joins the general assignment desk from The Washington Post’s Morning Mix, where he has been deputy editor since joining the publication in 2018.
Prior to that, Bella was managing editor, news and politics, at Vocativ. He has also worked at Al Jazeera America as a digital producer/reporter and has served as a web producer at CBS News. Bella was also a production/research intern at CNN.
He has also worked as an investigative researcher at ESPN and as a researcher/contributor at The Wall Street Journal. For a while, Bella also worked as a section editor at True/Slant and as an editorial contributor at Salon Media Group.
He was also an editorial intern at ProPublica and BenBella Books. He also served as a college sports blogger at the Houston Chronicle and was a political contributor and features writer at the Dallas Morning News and Parker County Today Magazine, respectively.
Bella has also worked as a contributing writer for 103.3 FM in Dallas at ESPN Radio and was a sports editor at Texas Christian University. He has also served as a web intern at Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
Bella is a B.S. in news-editorial journalism and political science from Texas Christian University and a M.S. in magazine journalism from Columbia University – Graduate School of Journalism.
