Alice Richardson, BBC/Reach local democracy reporter, has stepped away from journalism.
Previously, she was a local democracy reporter at Newsquest.
In a Twitter thread, Richardson said: “It’s definitely been a challenging few years. Don’t let anyone glamorise or romanticise local journo work. It can be brutal and some people can be really difficult to deal with and down right nasty. Same as in any job I suppose.”
Richardson freelanced for the Daily Mirror, Metro and the BBC. She formerly worked at The Guardian and The Times.
Richardson graduated from the University of Oxford.
