James Shaw, a journalist at BBC News wrote on X/Twitter:
“It’s my last day at BBC News after 29 years. It wasn’t an easy decision to leave, but the right one for me to pursue professional and personal interests. I will always be grateful for the brilliant friendships and incredible opportunities. Thank you so much and keep in touch Xx.”
During his time at BBC News, Shaw has covered various events, including the 2003 war in Iraq. He again completed assignments to Iraq in 2006, ’07 and ’09.
He also reported on the Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2005 Paris riots, the tenth anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster and the 2010 earthquake in Chile.
In 2022, he also covered the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
Shaw has a B.A. from Oxford University and a postgraduate diploma in broadcast journalism from Cardiff University.
