Jenae Barnes has joined Capital B as a health and environment reporter, based in Indiana. Commenting on her new role, she said:
“Environment and health are crucial parts of any city, but especially for Gary and its history. There’s a lot of ground to cover with these interconnected issues, and I’m so excited to engage with the community and tell their stories.”
Barnes was a 2022 National Association of Black Journalists Fellow/editorial fellow at Apple News. She was an enterprise reporter, news at Forbes, and interned at ABC News.
Her work has also been published by Good Morning America and Medium.
Barnes has a bachelor’s degree from George Mason University and a master’s degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
