Asmar becomes Colorado bureau chief at Chalkbeat

Chalkbeat has promoted Melanie Asmar to Colorado bureau chief. Recently, she was a senior reporter covering Denver public schools.

Asmar has been with Chalkbeat for more than eight years. Prior to joining Chalkbeat in October 2015, she was a staff writer at Westword, a digital and print media publication in Denver.

She also worked as a staff reporter at the Concord Monitor.

Asmar has a B.A. in English and journalism from the University of New Hampshire.
