Regional publisher Archant is planning on investing in local businesses with the launch of Archant Ventures, a new initiative aimed at offering firms marketing and advertising support in return for a small equity stake in their business.
The move is thought to be an industry first.
Kieran Miles, a former Barclays Entrepreneur of the Year, who joined the company in March, will be heading the new venture.
Miles says:
“There are so many brilliantly innovative and exciting businesses within our communities but many find it challenging to maximise their potential.
“Archant Ventures will unleash opportunity by providing access to our complete range of marketing products and platforms, enabling them to forge more connections, increase visibility, reach their target market and accelerate their growth.”
Archant executive chairman Simon Bax added:
“This is another exciting example of how Archant builds and supports our business communities.
“Start-ups and high-potentials will greatly benefit from our expertise and unrivalled connections, whilst we will leverage new commercial opportunities and relationships with ambitious entrepreneurs to drive profitable growth for our company.”
