Maria Sherman has joined The Associated Press as a music writer to lead coverage for the entertainment and lifestyles department. She will also work with colleagues in the U.S. and international bureaus.
Recently, Sherman freelanced for NPR, Billboard, BuzzFeed, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, ELLE, Mic, Pitchfork, Glamour, Vulture/The New York Magazine and the Los Angeles Times.
She was a culture writer at Netflix and worked as a managing editor for TrackRecord and as a senior staff writer for Jezebel at Gizmodo Media Group. She was a senior correspondent at Fuse TV and held the posts of trending news editor and writer for BuzzFeed music at BuzzFeed News.
Sherman graduated from New York University Gallatin School of Individualized Study.
