The Associated Press has promoted Aritz Parra to news director for Southern Europe, based in Madrid. He will oversee the Southern region, including Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Spain and Portugal.
Parra has been with the Associated Press for more than 10 years, holding various roles, including producer and video journalist, senior producer and chief correspondent. He also reported on Greater China, Japan and Koreas for El Mundo, a newspaper in Spain. He also freelanced.
Parra is a graduate of the University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain.
