The Associated Press has appointed Sara Gillesby director of global video and Josh Hoffner director of U.S. news.
In her new role, Gillesby will have several responsibilities: expanding the newsroom’s live news coverage and driving consistency across a wide range of video output. Recently, she served as news director for the U.S. East region, a post she held since 2018.
Gillesby joined AP in 2005 as a video producer and has also worked as its video news assignment manager in New York for 9 years.
Hoffner will lead efforts to modernize AP’s U.S. coverage. He joined the newsroom in 1998 with his first gig being a night supervisor and reporter in Bismarck, N.D. He then moved to the national desk in New York and had served as New York City news editor. He also helped launch the west Regional desk.
He recently served as news editor, national beats.
