Anand named dean of the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism

Interim dean Geeta Anand has been appointed as the dean of the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.

A veteran journalist, Anand specializes in narrative writing and investigative reporting. She began teaching at Berkeley in 2018 and also serves as director of the Investigative Reporting Program.

Anand’s career started with coverage of local government in Vermont before her going on to become the city hall bureau chief at the Boston Globe. She has also served as a foreign correspondent in India for the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.

She has also penned the non-fiction book, “The Cure.”

Additionally, Anand was a key member of the team of reporters that won the 2003 Pulitzer Prize in Explanatory Reporting. She was also a finalist for a 2004 Pulitzer Prize. Anand also received the Gerald Loeb Award for Distinguished Business and Financial Journalism, the Victor Cohn Prize for Excellence in Medical Science Reporting, and the Danny Pearl Award for Outstanding International Investigative Reporting.
