The Washington Post has hired Kainaz Amaria as a visual enterprise editor for National. In her new role, she will expand the Post’s visual journalism and oversee visual-first stories on both quick-turn news and longer-term projects.
Amaria will also work with reporters and editors across National, and partner with the Audio, Data, Design, Graphics, Photo and Video departments to further elevate coverage.
Coming to the Post from Vox Media, Amaria has previously worked at NPR as a multimedia producer/trainer and supervising editor, visuals. She also interned at the U.S. News & World Report and has freelanced for The New York Times, Vogue India and Reuters.
She has also worked at the St. Petersburg Times in Florida.
Amaria has a B.A. from Boston University and a M.A. from Ohio University.
