Aleman takes on new role at Hearst Media

Rita Hagen Aleman

Rita Hagen Aleman today was named executive producer, news and documentary development, at Hearst Media Production Group (HMPG). She currently is executive producer and director of special projects for HMPG’s highly successful, nationally syndicated public affairs program Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien.

In the newly created role, Aleman will expand her involvement with national news and information programming, reporting to Angelica Rosas McDaniel, HMPG executive vice president and general manager, entertainment, and will develop documentaries and docuseries projects for HMPG.

Entering its ninth season on Sept. 16, Matter of Fact is one of the top weekend public affairs programs on broadcast and cable, according to HMPG. Aleman will continue as executive in charge of the program.

Aleman was Matter of Fact’s first executive producer when the show launched in fall 2015. She is a member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Silver Circle, an honor given for lifetime achievement and excellence in service to the industry and community.

A Wisconsin native, she has a degree in political science from Marquette University, and a master’s degree in journalism and mass communications from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
