Lauren Aguirre has joined Votebeat, a nonprofit newsroom, as its founding engagement editor. She joins from The Philadelphia Inquirer, where she has worked as an audience engagement editor, and recently, as an audience editor for enterprise and innovation.
Aguirre previously served as a digital producer at The Arizona Republic and has worked freelance. She has also interned at and was an associate editor at The Liberty Project in Dallas, Texas.
She was also an intern at KERA-TV Ch. 13, a PBS-member station in Dallas, Texas, and The Hill.
Aguirre graduated from Southern Methodist University with a bachelor’s degree in convergence journalism and political science.
